• Where to eat in Amsterdam?

Looking for a place to eat in Amsterdam? This is my 10 favorite places to eat and drink all day long in Netherlands’ capital city! I have been lucky to travel there this January and I can tell you that this is probably one of the best cities for foodies! Many cool places to eat or drink all day long, nice and friendly people, good food and a lot of choice for every taste… Park Café: Park Café, is Hotel Arena’s bar and restaurant (where I was staying) and is open to everyone, even if you are not staying at the hotel. The menu is simple but delicious and I…

  • La Yole de Chris

If you are looking for a nice place to eat some fish in La Rochelle, you can go to La Yole de Chris. Facing La Concurrence beach and the ocean, the restaurant is well decorated in a cool industrial atmosphere. Big wooden tables inside and a cosy terrace outside, the spot is perfect to chill with family and friends! The place is owned by Christopher Coutanceau, a famous chief in La Rochelle (brother with Gregory Coutanceau I already told you about in my article for Vivre[s] in Rochefort). Both are sons of Richard Coutanceau, the chief who received 2 stars from the Michelin Guide in 1986. Christopher joined his father…

  • Gurou

It is not always easy to find 100% veggie restaurants in small and medium size cities. Even if eat everything, I am always curious about trying new meals, textures and tastes, veggies meals are already part of my everyday diet. So, when I heard about Gurou, my curiosity and love of good food pushed me to discover the place. Downtown La Rochelle, in the covered market neighbourhood, the restaurant that started to sell its food by street bike is a very cool place. A bright small shop where meals suggested are wrote down by chalk stick on a slate, with an open kitchen from where smells of veggie burgers, sweet…

  • Vivre[s]

Located in Rochefort’s former covered market, Vivre[s] is Chef Grégory Coutanceau’s new restaurant that highlight local products and wood-fired cooking method. A beautiful place for 4 experiences. First of all, this is about the history of a specific place, the Quai aux Vivres in Rochefort city in Charente-Maritime. Listed as Historic Monument, the buildings used to be also a military hospital, a navy police station, and then, homes for administration executives and officers. Since more than 4 years, there is a huge restoration in progress in order to give it a second life creating accomodation, but also, a great gastronomic facility. The result? An exceptionnal setting and an architecture that…

  • Le Mail

Situated close to the old harbour, on the Mail street facing the ocean and gardens, it is a symbolic place of the area. We recently discovered this restaurant in La Rochelle but it was open since 1906! Originally a brasserie, it has been bought a little more than one year ago by Patricia & Hervé Brandt that totally restored it keeping the spirit of the place. The menu change with seasons and is made with local and fresh produtcs only. The Chef, Olivier Giraud, is from the region and enjoys cooking good products. We really appreciated our Menu du Marché which is a good value and includes delicious meals: appetizer, …

  • Palem Café

Looking for a place to have lunch in La Rochelle (France)? Here is one of my favorite place: Palem Café. A cool café-restaurant just beside the Market! They are lucky to be close to the producers so they can cook very fresh and seasonal food. The place is small but cosy and well decorated with wood, straw and plants. I already felt comfortable and relaxed there, they are very nice and smiling people and it was really appreciated. The menu offers several possibilites for special diets like veggies and because everything is home-made, it is possible to remove ingredients from meals if you can’t eat them. I am allergic to…
