About Me
Hi there!
My name is Charlie, a French-Canadian woman living in France. I used to be a cook for 5 years in a French Boutique Hotel. Today, I am still working in the restaurants industry but in sales department now. I still enjoy cooking at home for/with my family and friends and love to share my tips & tricks. First of all, I do apologize for the mistakes you may find here since English is not my birth language, but I promise to do my best! Already travel blogger on Traces de Voyages, I wanted to do something new about my passion for Food. I love to create and try new food, every kind of product and mostly fresh and delicious… I want to share with you everything I love about cooking, eating and even planting.
I have been lucky to grow up in a family where food was important and where everyone enjoyed cooking. Our meals where always made with love by our parents and grand parents when we visited them. I remember the smell of my grand parent’s kitchen, the time we spent with my parents cutting vegetables all together or grilling food on the barbecue. I always enjoyed creating the arrangement for the dinner table when we were celebrating Christmas, Birthdays or another event. I know I have been very lucky to spend my childhood in the countryside, surrounded by fields and forests. We made our own vegetable garden with my brother and my father, we had some poultry too for good fresh chicken eggs but also goose eggs, better for cakes! Today, I still have a little garden where I have my favorite plants to cook and some vegetables but no more poultry or fields. I remain very attached to nature and good products so I always try to eat fresh and seasonnal food.
As a student, I used to study Hospitality Management, Tourism, Gastronomy and Sommellerie. Am I a foodie? I can say yes, but not only. I also enjoy to travel the world so I have created a first blog on this theme: Traces de Voyages. But unfortunately, I am a big allergic person… I am deadly allergic to a lot of food products since I am 7 years old. More products were added to the list until my 17 years old. Now, I have to avoid them from my consumption so you will not find any of them here: lemon, lime, all kind of nuts (peanuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, chestnuts…), a lot of exotic fruits (kiwis, bananas, pineapples, mangos, passion fruits, litchees…), sweet peppers, chillis, crabs and soya… Yes this list is quite too long for someone who enjoy cooking and eating so I had to adjust. But I am doing it quite well by removing some ingredients in recipes or changing them for other ones.
Currently, I am living in a beautiful French city on the seaside and working in the sales department for a famous chef who owns 3 restaurants, 1 cooking school and a catering service. Before 2020, I used to work in many hotels-restaurants in France and Montreal at the reception and Events management. From 2015 to 2019, I was a cook in an Boutique Hotel, a very cool place where we prepared good fresh and creative food. I have learned a lot there.
With this blog, I want to share with you my love about food and nature. I am sharing with you my recipes (and some from my husband who used to be a cook as well), thoughts, places where to eat like restaurants or café, but also, some other stuff in link with all of this. I really hope you will enjoy it. Have a nice day and be creative!
